2019.07.184th Meeting of the KlimAdapt Provider-User-NetworkImprove user friendliness of climate adaption services

From June 13th to 14th, 27 provider of climate adaption services (CAS) used the chance to exchange about how to integrate users more into the development of CASs in the Generaldirektion Wasserstraßen und Schifffahrt (GDWS) in Hannover. In two days four climate adaption services and their user integration were introduced and discussed in working groups.

Dr. Esther Hoffmann from the Institut für ökologische Wirtschaftsförderung (IÖW) presented how users were integrated into the development of climate adaption services so far. Based on three requests of the Umweltbundesamt regarding adation services provided by state and federal states, 101 services have been registered - the main part integrated users in to the process of development. Among others, the providers captured user needs, came up with ideas and tested prototypes.
The second part of the programme had a different focus: the presentation of to climate adaption services and their user integration. These were the Wissensportal Hamburger Gründachstrategie as well as the Fachinformationssystem Klimaanpassung from Northrhine-Westphalia. After relevant contents were presented in the plenum, the participants discussed in groups the possible applications regarding the specific services and possible formats of user integration.
The second day of the network-meeting startet with a speech about the administration-intern handbook "Climate Proofing" by Dörthe Eichler from the Generaldirektion Wasserstraßen und Schifffahrt. Next, two other climate adaption services were presented to the plenum: the Starkregen-Vorsorgeportal for Bremen as well as the Klimalotse from the Umweltbundesamtes. The following group work focused on disucssions concerning the services. The results were valuable feedback and improvement proposals for the four speakers to further development their services.
