2018.12.18New Climate Scenarios for Switzerland and NCCS-Web Platform

November 18th, the National Centre for Climate Services (NCCS) and the ETH-Center für Climate Systems Modeling (C2SM) presented at the ETH Zurich the results of the new Suisse Climate Scenarios CH2018 as well as the new NCCS-web platform (www.nccs.ch). 670 Participants from administration, politics, science, economy and populace took part in the interactive event that allowed an dialogue between users and producers of climate services.

The Climate Scenarios CH2018 show, where and how Switzerland is affected by climate change: “dry summers”, “heavy rain”, “more heat days” and “winters with little snow” are conceivable consequences of an unchecked climate change.
The National Centre for Climate Services (NCCS) is the federal network for climate services. Therefore it coordinates the NCCS as the common development and provision of climate services and supports the dialogue between all involved actors.
The NCCS is organised in the sense of an virtual centre and contains eight administration units. Main target audiences are administration and politics, economy and research oriented users from the national to the municipal level as well as international actors in the field of climate services.
The NCCS exchanges with the two networks of the KLiVO portal, KlimAdapt and Deutscher Klimadienst (DKD) regarding the most recent and further developments of climate services.
Information concerning the NCCS and numerous climate services are to be found on the new NCCS-web-platform (www.nccs.ch). It informs about the consequences of climate change and its risks and chances as well as possible measures. In addition news and events from the field of climate services are available. The NCCS-web-platform is online since November 13th and is regularly updated with new services and further acitivies.
